We had the best gelato at Amarena Gelato with our family! The lady was very kind and helpful, and the gelato was absolutely delicious. You can really taste the quality and freshness in every flavor. Highly recommended we would definitely come back again!

Outstanding gelato shop serving giant portions of this delicious icy treat just a few blocks away from the Spanish Steps. Amarena is, as the name implies, truly a gelato experience; they're making dreams come true for kids everywhere with their massive selection of gelato flavors, encompassing all the classics like vanilla, chocolate, and oreo, as well as a ton of unique combinations. Each of their scoops is super rich and creamy, and they make the perfect late-night indulgence. I got a small cup with half pistachio white chocolate and half orange almond. Both flavors were outstanding, but I found the orange almond especially impressive. The super citrusy, slightly tangy orange went wonderfully with the nutty almonds, and the combination helped to cut through the sugar and richness of the gelato. It almost tasted refreshing (or as refreshing as ice cream can possibly be), and it was the perfect flavor for a hot July evening in Rome. Also, while I got the "small" cup, the portions were hue. The cup was probably larger than my hand, and it must have included at least 1.5-2 cups of gelato. In lieu of a cone, they topped the scoops off with two little wafers with the store's logo on them, which was a cute touch. My friend also decided to sample a few of their more dessert-oriented flavors; she got the cheesecake and kinder egg, which were both fantastic. The kinder egg was rich and chocolatey, and I loved the extra bit of tanginess from the cheesecake. It genuinely tasted like someone had taken a classic New York Cheesecake and tossed it into a blender.

Friendly & quick service, great gelato. Variety of options to choose from. Based on what I've read about gelato in Italy, the gelato that doesn't look like a natural color or is candy flavored (I.e. snickers, gummy bear, etc.) is not traditional Italian gelato but this was still tasty and a nearby option from our hotel. I ordered the mint and chocolate chip and my husband had the caramel.
